Typhoon Hinnamno has great power from heavy rain, strong winds, and even tidal waves, but also has a considerable range of influence.

As virtually the entire country, including the metropolitan area, enters the sphere of influence, there are concerns about a lot of damage.

Reporter Min Kyung-ho will tell you how to prepare for such a powerful typhoon.

The landing point of Hinnamno predicted by the Korea Meteorological Administration is the Gyeongnam coast.

However, the influence seems to be felt in the southern part of Gyeonggi-do, which is about 300 km away.

This is because it is difficult to use an umbrella, and a strong wind radius of 15 m/s, which sometimes blows away signs, covers most of the country.

Preparing for damage from strong winds is paramount.

First, the windows.

You can prevent damage by putting a thick shipping box or milk carton between the window and the window frame, or by attaching tape between the window and the window frame.

When I tested it, there was no problem even with a 50 m/s strong wind.

It is difficult to prevent glass breakage just by attaching an X-shaped tape to the window or applying wet newspaper.

As heavy rain has been predicted, it is also necessary to prevent flood damage.

Be sure to remove any cover or trash that blocks the rain gutter on the street.

[Jeong Do-Jun / National Institute of Disaster and Safety Research Facility Researcher: As a result of the experiment, when it was covered with a cover, the flooding height more than doubled, and when it rained about 50mm per hour, the flooding started within 10 minutes]

It is also necessary to reinforce the poles and fences, and also check that external facilities such as outdoor signs, spires, and plastic greenhouses are well fixed.

If you are walking during heavy rain, avoid around manholes as much as possible.

In an experiment where it rained 50 mm per hour, the manhole cover opened in an average of 17 seconds after it started to shake.

If you are driving, evacuate immediately if your wheels are more than half locked, and when crossing a puddle, do not stop and pass at a slow speed.

[Lee Ho-geun/Professor of the Department of Future Automobile, Daedeok University: When the car moves forward, it gets on the bumper and overflows with water.

If water enters the air intake and water enters the engine, the engine stops...

If half of the door is submerged in water, the door will not open due to water pressure.]

Vehicles may stagger in strong winds, so keep a sufficient distance from nearby vehicles.
