The anti-corruption and public crime investigation team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency sent lawyer Jang to the prosecution last week without detention on charges of spreading false information.
Previously, the police applied for an arrest warrant for Jang, but the prosecution rejected it saying that a supplementary investigation was necessary, and the police did not apply for a warrant again.
After interviewing Park Chul-min, a member of the gang who was arrested in October last year, lawyer Jang revealed Park's statement and a picture of a bundle of money, claiming that Lee was closely related to a gang in the Seongnam area.
However, the photo turned out to be a bundle of money that Park boasted on social media in 2018, saying that he earned it, and the Democratic Party filed a criminal complaint against lawyer Jang and others.
After a search and seizure of the Suwon Detention Center where Park was imprisoned, the police arrested and investigated Attorney Jang.
