African swine fever was confirmed at a pig farm in Yanggu-gun, Gangwon-do.

Officials said yesterday that the farm's samples were analyzed and confirmed as swine fever.

Accordingly, the authorities decided to slaughter all 5,600 pigs raised on the farm and conduct clinical tests on all pig farms in Gangwon-do.

An order to temporarily suspend the movement of pig farms, slaughterhouses, feed factories, and vehicles in Gangwon Province for 48 hours from 10:30 on the night of the 18th also went into effect.

Prime Minister Han Deok-soo ordered thorough quarantine measures through emergency instructions from relevant ministries.
