You might think you are in an episode of “Black Mirror”, but it is not… A robot dog equipped with a rocket launcher was presented this Monday as part of “Army 2022”, an arms fair in Russia.

This killer robot is actually a simple Chinese-made robot dog that has been modified by a Russian startup called Intellect Machine.

This is a company founded by a business lawyer from St. Petersburg, says Vice.

The combat utility of the machine is widely discussed.

This robotic dog was originally a "Unitree GO1", a "bionic companion robot" sold for $2,700 on the website of its Chinese manufacturer Unitree.

So that he is not immediately identifiable, the bionic dog has been wrapped in black pantyhose.

Intellect Machine then renamed the craft "M-81".

The machine would be neutralized remotely

According to the press release from RIA Novosti, a press agency belonging to the Russian government, the M-81 would be “capable of carrying out targeted fire and carrying weapons”.

“For civilian purposes, it can be used in emergency reconnaissance areas to pass through rubble and deliver medicine,” the agency also said.

In reality, as evidenced by a video of its creator, the dog-robot does not seem capable of absorbing the shock wave of the recoil of a weapon after a shot.

It could therefore only be used in a limited way for combat.

Good news!

Remember that robot dog you saw with a gun!?

It was made by @UnitreeRobotics.

Seems all you need to dump it in the dirt is @flipper_zero.

The PDB has a 433mhz backdoor.

No need for @gnuradio!

Especially since, as shown by a hacker on Twitter, the robot can easily be deactivated remotely with a simple remote control.

It should be noted, however, that similar technology has already been developed at a more advanced level by at least two companies, Sword International and Ghost Robotics, indicates The Verge.

As for Boston Dynamics' Spot robot dog, an unarmed version was tested by Saint-Cyr students last year.
