Former Kumho Asiana Group Chairman Park Sam-koo, who was handed over to trial on charges of embezzlement worth 300 billion won, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in the first trial, the same amount as the prosecution's sentence, and was arrested in court.

The court explained the reason for the severe sentence, saying, "Using affiliates for private companies undermines corporate soundness and transparency and undermines the legitimate interests of economic actors."

In May last year, former Chairman Park was arrested and indicted on charges of embezzling 330 billion won from affiliates and acquiring Kumho Industrial shares.
