An Air Force F-4E fighter jet crashed during a mission in the West Sea today (12th).



The Air Force said that an F-4E fighter that took off from Suwon base at 11:41 am today and was returning from a mission crashed in the West Sea around 12:20 pm.



The two pilots made an emergency escape and were said to be unharmed.



So far, there have been no confirmed civilian casualties.



The Air Force is investigating the cause of the accident by forming an accident countermeasure committee chaired by the deputy chief of staff.



In January, a similarly obsolete F-5E fighter jet crashed, killing one pilot.
