The fire department judged the 911 call to rescue a fallen passerby as a 'drunk situation' and guided them to "report to 112", causing controversy.

Yesterday (11th), according to the Gwangju Fire Department, etc., a witness report was received that a passerby in his 50s had collapsed in an alleyway in Buk-gu, Gwangju, around 10:08 a.m. on the 6th.

At that time, the reporter reported that "a person is lying", and when a fire department worker asked for confirmation of the situation, it was understood that he replied, "I can't talk because I'm scared."

It was confirmed that the fire department worker did not send an ambulance after guiding, "You may be drunk. If you are not an emergency patient, call 112."

The reporter called the police as instructed by the fire department, but the passerby collapsed at 10:17 a.m. when the police arrived at the scene and was in cardiac arrest.

In the end, the reporter and the police reported it again, and the fire department dispatched the rescue team to the scene around 10:25 in the morning, 17 minutes after the initial report was received.

The passerby, who collapsed with the help of rescue teams, was taken to the hospital, but eventually died.

In response, a firefighter official said, "Information on the situation on the scene was not shared enough, so the worker judged that it was intoxicated rather than an emergency." I was instructed to re-report,” he explained.

He added, "As a report was received from the Gwangju Police Agency that there was a drunken person, an ambulance was dispatched immediately. .

"We will strengthen the responsibility of the 119 General Situation Room to secure a golden time for various disaster situations," he said.
