Firework mortar attack against the Compiègne police station

The Compiègne police station (Oise) was the target of fireworks, without causing any injuries, on the night of Sunday to Monday, and three people were arrested, told AFP the public prosecutor Marie- Celine Lawrysz.

According to the prosecutor, a police patrol was first victim of projectiles, "mainly paving stones", Sunday around 11:00 p.m. in the sensitive district of Clos des Roses, known for its drug trafficking, in particular crack and 'heroin.

When the patrol returned to the police station, an hour later, fireworks were fired at the building.

Police come out to chase a vehicle "with people on board who could be the perpetrators of these shots".

When they reached the Clos des Roses district, they were again "victims of mortar and projectile fire".

After the use of "intermediate weapons" by the police, three people were arrested.

The LR mayor of Compiègne, Philippe Marini, called on Monday in a press release for "the support of additional national police officers".

"These intimidations will not stop our resolve to fight against all trafficking," he wrote.

According to his figures, 36 kg of drugs were seized in 2021 in his city and "already more than 22 kg since the beginning of 2022".
