The two fires that started in the Dordogne, in the Double forest, were set this Monday morning after burning more than 110 hectares.
Firefighters continue to fight to ensure the final extinction of the fire which mobilized 230 of their men as well as five planes.
The two fires that broke out on Sunday evening in the forest of La Double, in the west of the Dordogne, were "fixed" on Monday morning after burning nearly 110 hectares, the department's firefighters said on Monday.
The fires are "fixed", but 120 firefighters "are still actively fighting to complete the extinction of the fire, given the weather conditions and the extent of the fire", added the firefighters, specifying that there was always "many active households".
Many resources deployed
At the "strongest" of the fires, Sunday evening, some 230 firefighters were mobilized to fight against these fires raging in "softwood areas", in the Dordogne municipalities of La Roche-Chalais and Eygurande-et-Gardedeuil, 15 km apart from each other.

Two Canadairs, a Dash aircraft and two water bomber helicopters were also deployed.
Among the forces mobilized on site, firefighter reinforcements from neighboring departments were present.
A worrying record
Nearly 100 hectares of forest were devastated around La Roche-Chalais, and 10 in the town of Eygurande-et-Gardedeuil.
It is the "biggest fire of the season" in the Dordogne, according to firefighters.

No injuries are to be deplored, and a house was evacuated.
The department's firefighters evoke a current "incendiary pressure" on the region, where several fires have been recorded these days.
The Dordogne has been classified as "severe" risk for forest fires since Thursday.
