A trader and university professor who stole 200 million won by selling fresh water as a cancer treatment to terminal cancer patients were put on trial.
The Incheon District Prosecutor's Office's Criminal Division 1 (Prosecutor Min-cheol Jumin) announced today (4th) that they arrested and indicted trader A (64) on charges of fraud and indicted B (59), a professor of alternative healing at a certain university, without detention.
A and B are accused of stealing 150 million won from two terminal cancer patients in August and November of 2019 by deceiving them as cancer treatments.
A is also accused of stealing 95 million won from two other terminally ill cancer patients from March to June 2020 using the same method.
They deceived the victims by saying, "Drinking 'Yanghwasu' with specific energy added according to quantum mechanics can cure cancer."
There was also the subtlety of deceiving a cancer patient who purchased Yanghwasoo by meeting another cancer patient and saying, "The condition is getting better."
It was found that all four terminal cancer patients who purchased fresh water as a treatment have died.

A and B were caught by the police, who were investigating the report by two victims and their families in 2020.
Later, during the supplementary investigation process, the prosecution secured a list of buyers of Yanghwasu and traced the accounts of Mr. A and others to find two additional victims.
A prosecution official said, "We also requested an arrest warrant for Mr. B, but it was dismissed by the court because there is no fear of escaping or destroying evidence."
