The International Criminal Investigation Department of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office recently filed a request with the court to issue a summary order to impose a fine of 5 million won against former Ambassador Kim, who is accused of violating the Anti-Graft Act.
A summary order is an order that imposes fines, etc. only through written examination without the court holding a formal trial.
The prosecution's request for a summary order to the court is sometimes called summary indictment.
Earlier, during the regular audit process in March 2019, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs filed a complaint with the prosecution with the disposition of dismissal, saying that it was confirmed that Kim received airfare and lodging expenses from a local company while attending a Vietnam golf course opening event in the past with his family. .
Prosecutors found that former Ambassador Kim, who was staying abroad, did not respond to his request for attendance due to the spread of Corona 19, so in May of last year, the prosecution had suspended the prosecution for a limited time.
An official from the prosecution explained, "We have put together the cases of handling similar cases, the circumstances of the acceptance, and the fact that they were dismissed."
The former ambassador Kim said that some of the charges in his accusation were not prosecuted by the prosecution, and that the prosecution is reviewing a formal request for a trial on the charges abbreviated.
Former Ambassador Kim is also pursuing a lawsuit against the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Former Ambassador Kim, dissatisfied with his dismissal, filed an administrative lawsuit, but the court of first instance did not accept it, saying, "There is a high possibility of accusation as a violation of the trust and duties given to high-ranking public officials."
The result of the second trial is scheduled to be sent to the Seoul High Court on the 26th.
