The 6th typhoon 'TRASES' occurred at noon on the 31st, about 20 km northwest of Okinawa, Japan, the Korea Meteorological Administration said.

Trase is the name submitted by Cambodia and means woodpecker, and Typhoon Trase is expected to head straight for Jeju.

The Korea Meteorological Administration predicted that Trase would reach a sea 400 km southwest of Kagoshima, Japan at 00:00 on the 1st of the next month and weaken to a tropical depression in the sea 140 km south-southwest of Seogwipo at noon on the same day.

Trace's current maximum wind speed is 18 ㎧, which exceeds the typhoon's standard (17 ㎧ or more).

The Japan Meteorological Agency said, "Trase is still judged to be a tropical depression that does not reach the level of a typhoon, but the Japan Meteorological Agency, which has the naming rights for a typhoon in the Northwest Pacific, has declared it a typhoon."

The 5th typhoon Songda passed 370km southeast of Qingdao, China at 9 am and is expected to weaken to a tropical depression within 12 hours.
