A 20-year-old who is accused of aiding in a voice phishing crime by managing a repeater equipment that converts the phone number of a group of overseas phone financial fraud (voice phishing) into a domestic number has been put into a cage.



On the 31st, Judge Cha Young-wook, the 3rd independent criminal of the Chuncheon District Court, announced on the 31st that he had sentenced A (25), who was charged with violating the Telecommunications Business Act, to two years in prison.



From May 7th to the 10th of the same month, Mr. A was based in Siheung-si, Gyeonggi-do, installed a repeater with 35 SIM chips inserted, and took part in voice phishing, such as changing overseas caller numbers to domestic numbers. was brought to trial on the charges.



At the end of April, it was revealed during the indictment and trial that Mr. A conspired to act as a relay manager after making contact on the Internet with the so-called 'supply plan' that supplies cannon cell phones and SIMs.



Two days before the crime, he received 20 cell phones and multiple SIM chips sequentially from the supplier, and was charged with manipulating the domestic 010 number to be displayed to the recipient even when calling from an overseas call center.



Mr. A was sentenced to three years in prison for fraud and aiding in February 2019, and was released on parole in October 2020, committing these crimes during repeated offenses.



Judge Cha said, "The accused committed the crime without self-respect during the repeated offence, and he has a history of being punished for a crime related to voice phishing. I have decided on my brother.”
