Small revolution in the reputedly sexist and misogynistic universe of

Grand Theft Auto

: the next video game will offer to embody a woman.

This is a first for the franchise, which has existed for twenty-five years, reports Bloomberg relayed by BFMTV.

Until then, women were only objects in the game, or possibly secondary characters but impossible to embody.

GTA V

, the franchise's latest installment released in 2013, was no exception.

But that's all set to change with

GTA VI

, due out in 2024.

🎮 GTA VI unveils new info:

A global success

The plot of the sixth game will take place in a city inspired by Miami (USA).

Players will be able to embody a “Bonnie & Clyde” style couple, whose female character will be of “Latin” origin.

Rockstar Games, the studio behind the game, wanted to develop a more inclusive and less misogynistic experience, specifies BFMTV.

So far, the

GTA

game series has been successful with no less than 165 million copies sold.

It is the best-selling game in history, behind

Minecraft

and its 238 million copies.

The release of Episode VI, awaited by fans since 2014, will therefore be a real event in the world of gaming.
