It is said that unexpected aftereffects are appearing as the rest areas of Songnisan National Park are being demolished one by one.

According to the Songnisan National Park Office, in May of last year, three out of six resting areas in Songnisan were demolished.

This is because it promotes drunken hiking and pollutes valleys during food preparation, damaging the ecosystem, but this time a new problem has arisen.

This is an increasing number of hikers who need to defecate in a remote location on the hiking trail or in the surrounding bushes.

It is known that the forest created after the rest area was demolished even smells of urination and excretion.

Although there have been no cases of fines being imposed on hikers for 'sanitation in the mountains', a fine of 200,000 won is imposed for acts that cause disgust to others, such as disposing of filth or waste, or creating a strong odor.

National park officials are urging people to go to the toilet in advance, as there are several toilets from Beopjusa parking lot to Sesimjeong, but there are voices among hikers saying that they need a place to clean up their toilet after hiking for more than 7 hours and that temporary toilets should be installed.
