Apple recently announced the launch of a new child protection tool using the messaging app on its various devices.

The brand's parental control system will indeed be enriched next September with a new feature.

It will block the reception of images containing nudity, explains the company on its site.

This possibility already exists for some users.

Owners of Apple terminals in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and New Zealand already had access to it, specifies Numerama.

The French and the Germans will therefore join them at the start of the school year.

The function called message communications security can be activated on iPhones, iPads or Macs.

It runs on iOS 16, iPadOS 16 and macOS Ventura operating systems.

Child does not control functionality

To activate this tool that children will not be able to control, you will need to have opted for family sharing in iCloud.

The option is based on an artificial intelligence analyzing each image arriving via iMessage.

In case of nude photo, a blur will be applied.

To still view the photo, you will have to click a first time, which will display a message warning about the dangers of certain photos.

A second security will then be triggered, offering the user to warn their parents or to give up seeing the snapshot.

After discussing with several associations, Apple has chosen not to inform parents in the event of the device being triggered.

The company also assured that no information concerning the reception of these images would be sent by the devices and specified that it had no access to the messages.
