The Supreme Prosecutor's Office took over the death case of a woman sent by the police with the opinion of 'no suspicion' and proving that her husband was the real culprit. It was announced today (25th) that it was selected as an excellent case for scientific investigation in the second quarter of this year.

According to the Supreme Prosecutor’s Office, the investigation team at the Pohang Branch conducted an autopsy appraisal of the victim who was found dead near the breakwater three times by the Supreme Prosecutor’s forensic advisory committee, and found that the victim was fatally wounded by being hit in the head before death. It was found that there is a high possibility that the wife was assaulted with a blunt weapon and then plunged into the sea.

After that, additional forensic investigations, such as improving the sound quality of the black box video, and a full-scale supplementary investigation and on-site verification for those involved in the case followed. The full details of the crime (injury and fatality) were revealed.

The Supreme Prosecutor's Office also found that a nurse sent by the police without charges had injected a foreign substance into the patient's dialysis filter through a closed circuit (CC) TV analysis of the ward, the Daejeon District Prosecutor's Office Detective Division 1 (Chief Prosecutor Choi Young-ah, now head of the Human Rights Protection Department of the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors' Office) and drunkenness. The Suwon District Prosecutor's Office's Pyeongtaek District Criminal Division 1 (Director Yoo Jeong-ho, presently head of the Daejeon District Prosecutor's Office 2nd Division), who arrested and indicted a brother who sexually assaulted a bride-to-be, was also selected as an excellent case.

In addition, the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office 4 (then chief prosecutor Han Ki-shik), who investigated the intent of the attempted murder through mobile phone messenger forensics, and a 67.1 billion won fraud suspect fled just before the interrogation of the suspect (warrant substantive examination) before arrest. The Incheon District Prosecutor's Office's International Crime Investigation Department (then chief prosecutor Jang Jun-ho), who was arrested through historical analysis, was also selected as an excellent case of scientific investigation.

The Supreme Prosecutor's Office said, "We will protect the basic rights of the people by researching and developing cutting-edge scientific investigation techniques and actively utilizing them in investigations in response to increasingly complex and sophisticated criminal methods."
