A woman in her fifties and her 14-year-old daughter were stabbed to death on Monday morning in Vigneux-sur-Seine, in the Essonne department south of Paris.

The 45-year-old suspect must undergo a psychiatric examination.

A voluntary homicide investigation has been opened.

A woman in her fifties and her 14-year-old daughter were stabbed to death in the morning in Vigneux-sur-Seine in the south of Paris, AFP learned from concordant sources.

The suspect, in his forties, was taken into police custody as part of a flagrant investigation, opened by the Evry prosecutor's office for intentional homicide and entrusted to the Essonne departmental security.

The man, born in 1977 and placed "under curatorship", "will be subjected to a psychiatric examination in the afternoon", indicated the parquet floor of Evry contacted by AFP, specifying that he had held " incoherent remarks before the facts, with regard to several third parties".

The homicide took place around 7 a.m. Monday, in the respondent's apartment, which housed the woman and her daughter.

According to the prosecution, the mother, born in 1972, died on the spot and the teenager, aged 14, succumbed to her injuries in hospital.

According to a source close to the case, the woman was the suspect's "ex-girlfriend", but the teenager was not his daughter.

He was "alcoholic", had had several epileptic seizures and evoked "magic" before the facts, added the source close to the file.
