In 2015, the police seized and searched the office of lawyer Jang Young-ha in connection with Park Cheol-min's revelation that money from gangsters was delivered to Seongnam Mayor Lee Jae-myung at the time.
The anti-corruption and public crime investigation team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency confirmed the fact that they raided the office of lawyer Jang Young-ha, who is accused of defamation and the Public Official Election Act, on the morning of the 12th.
In March, the police also seized and searched the Suwon Detention Center, where Park Chul-min was arrested.
Earlier, after interviewing Park Chul-min, who is imprisoned at Suwon Detention Center, Jang claimed that he had obtained a picture of a bundle of money delivered to Mayor Lee Jae-myung in 2015.
The photo of the bundle of money became controversial when it was released at the Gyeonggi State Auditorium in October of last year.
However, the bundle of money was revealed in a photo introduced on social media saying that it was money that Park Chul-min earned after running a rental car business in 2018, not 2015.
The police investigation started right after the revelation, when Lee Jun-seok, former CEO of Komatrade, who was identified as a gangster involved with Mayor Lee Jae-myung, filed a complaint.
The police plan to further investigate the facts based on the data confiscated today.
