Parents in their 20s who falsely reported that they died in an accident during childbirth after killing a newborn baby were later arrested and charged with lying.

In January of last year, a 112 report came in from a house in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, saying that "the baby died during childbirth."

When the police arrived, they found the body of a newborn baby in a bag under the outdoor unit of the air conditioner in the house.

Her 20-year-old lover, her biological mother A and her biological father B, said, "The baby's head was stuck in the birth canal for two hours and delivery was not performed properly."

Police tried to close the case as a simple death because the cause of death was unknown as a result of the autopsy.

However, the prosecution suggested that the case should be filed, stating that the autopsy results show that the baby was alive at the time of delivery, and that the biological parents did not make any efforts to save the baby, such as artificial respiration, and did not call 911.

After the arrest, during the police's supplementary investigation, mother A and father B generally confessed to the crime.

[Park Seung-hwan/Seoul Central Prosecutor's Office Public Affairs Officer: A case that could have ended with a simple death was a case in which the reality of the infant murder crime was clearly identified through the strict judicial control of the prosecution and thorough follow-up investigations by the police and the prosecution.]

Prosecutors said the suspects in their early 20s were investigated for killing their babies by covering their mouths and noses with a towel right after they gave birth in the bathroom for fear of financial incompetence and the people around them looking at single mothers. .
