Yesterday (9th), there were 20,410 new confirmed cases of Corona 19 in one day, and it was counted as 20,000 for two days in a row.

As the 'doubling' phenomenon continues over the weekend, the increase has not stopped, and the quarantine authorities are deeply concerned about the earlier-than-expected phase of the spread.

Yesterday, there were 2410 new confirmed cases of COVID-19.

This is a figure that surpassed 20,000 for two consecutive days following the previous day when it climbed to the 20,000 level in 45 days.

In particular, the so-called 'doubling' phenomenon, in which the number of confirmed cases doubles from a week ago, continues on the weekend.

Compared to a week ago, the number of new patients increased more than twice and more than three times from two weeks ago.

The spread of the virus came faster than the government's expected fall season from September to October.

The spread of the BA.5 mutation virus, the sub-displacement of Omicron, the increase in travel during summer vacation, and the use of air conditioners in confined environments are cited as the causes.

The number of inbound patients from overseas was also confirmed to be 250, the highest in 165 days, due to exemptions from quarantine for inbound travelers and expansion of international flights.

The quarantine authorities are planning to announce additional quarantine and medical countermeasures in preparation for a resurgence on the 13th.

This is expected to include contents such as expanding the target of the fourth vaccine and securing beds in advance.

However, prudence prevails on the issue of reviving social distancing.

The new advisory committee, formed in line with the government's new guidelines, will meet tomorrow to discuss these issues.
