A public official who enjoyed sea fishing by falsely receiving travel expenses while on a business trip was sentenced to probation in prison.

The Daejeon District Court sentenced A, a public official of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, accused of fraud, etc. to six months in prison and two years of probation.

In April 2018, Mr. A was charged with leaving the office of work without permission 12 times, including going sea fishing after applying for a business trip from the government complex in Sejong to Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do.

He also accessed the work system and manipulated working hours as if he had worked 105 overtime hours.

It was confirmed that Mr. A earned 5 million won in travel expenses and overtime pay for two years through this method.

The court ruled that Mr. A's false application for a business trip resulted in a job vacancy and impairing the functioning of the state, but there did not appear to be any other misconduct related to the act of abandonment of duty, and sentenced to probation considering that he had returned all the money he received unfairly. I did.
