A man in his 30s who chased after a female driver while driving under the influence of alcohol early in the morning was arrested by the police.

Gwangju Gwangsan Police Station announced today (6th) that they are investigating and arresting a man in his 30s as a current offender on charges of violating the Stalking Punishment Act and the Road Traffic Act.

According to the police, Mr. A is charged with following the vehicle of Mr. B, a female driver he met while driving drunk on a road in Ssangam-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, around 3:05 a.m. that day for about 20 minutes.

Person B, who felt suspicious, reported this to the police, and Mr. A, while fleeing to avoid being pursued by the police, collided with a median at a nearby intersection and stopped, and was arrested as a current offender by the police.

At that time, Mr. A's blood alcohol level was 0.139%, and he was intoxicated, which is known to be the level of license revocation.

Mr. A is said to be denying the stalking-related charges, claiming that "the headlights of the car in front were off, so I followed them to inform them" during a police investigation.

Police are investigating the exact circumstances of the incident based on CCTV footage and eyewitness statements.
