An 80-year-old man who wielded a hammer at his 70-year-old wife on suspicion of having an affair with a neighbor has been sentenced to probation.



On the 3rd, the 11th Criminal Division of the Seoul Western District Court (Presiding Judge Byungchan Moon) announced that on the 24th of last month, 3 years in prison and 5 years of probation were sentenced to A (85), who was handed over to trial for attempted murder.



A (85) is accused of trying to kill his wife, B (78), with a hammer, who was resting in his bedroom at his home in Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul around 2:00 pm on March 24th.

Mr. B suffered an orbital fracture and other 6-week anterior injuries.



Mr. A, who usually suffers from pneumothorax and delusional disorder, is known to have committed this kind of crime after he suspected that her wife was having an affair with the man next door.

Mr. A committed the crime while saying, "I will kill you and I will die," and then tried to make an extreme choice, but failed.
