After about two hours of the announcement of the nominee for the police chief of security, an unprecedented personnel accident occurred in which the positions of seven candidates were reversed, and the controversy over whether the Ministry of Public Administration and Security was actively taming the police is spreading.

In particular, this appointment was made by surprise as soon as the recommendation for police control by the Advisory Committee on improving the police system of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security was announced and Minister Lee Sang-min of the Ministry of Public Administration and Security came back from a business trip in Georgia.

In the process of clarification, the National Police Agency initially said it was "a mistake by a working person", but corrected it by saying, "The Ministry of Public Administration and Security also sent the bill that was being discussed as the final draft by mistake."

However, the Yongsan presidential office refuted, saying, "The claim that the personnel overturned at today's briefing is not true."

He also nailed it, saying, "The claim of 'taming the police' through personnel reversal is clearly false."

The Ministry of Public Administration and Security is still officially silent on the matter.

In response, the National Police Agency set out to explain again, citing the 'lack of communication process' as the basis for the personnel disaster.

An official from the National Police Agency explained that it was around 7:10 pm yesterday evening that the first plan was announced on the internal network, and it was a little past 8 o'clock when we received a request for amendment over the phone from a security policy officer dispatched to the Ministry of Public Administration and Security.

An official from the National Police Agency said, "I don't know why the person in charge sent the final draft the wrong way. There must be a cross check between the presidential office, the Ministry of Public Administration and Security, and the National Police Agency, but communication seems to have been insufficient."

The first announced personnel did not even receive approval from the President's Office.

Even after announcing the final draft of the wrong bill that had not been approved by the presidential office, questions and criticisms about the fact that there was no corrective action for two hours have not subsided.

For this reason, there are also interpretations that the Ministry of Public Administration and Security was trying to tame the police after the police protested against the advisory committee's recommendation to control the police, and there are even sayings that there was a struggle within the police over promotions and transfers.

Regarding the contents of this appointment as the Chief of Police, Kim Hak-kwan, the planning coordinator of the National Police Agency, was pushed out to the position of deputy chief of the autonomous police of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, and some are even talking about whether he was “taking a picture” of those who performed major tasks, such as dispatching to the State Affairs Office at the end of the previous government.

However, an official from the National Police Agency dismissed it, saying, "Physically, I don't think there is time for (personnel content) to change within two hours."

The official also said, "Considering the scope and content that can be recommended, enough opinions have been expressed. Although opinions cannot be 100% identical, they have been sufficiently exercised. reflected,” he explained.
