Also, the appeal filed by his son B (41), who committed the crime in conspiracy with Mr. A, was dismissed.

Person B was sentenced to three years in prison in the first trial.

Person A and others were charged with withdrawing a total of 1.37 billion won from the account of Mr. C, a dementia patient, from September 2014 to December 2020 over 200 times.

Person A worked as a housekeeper and caregiver for about 10 years from September 2010, when the victim, Mr. C, lived in Silver Town to December 2020, when he died.

It was identified that A started the crime when there was no one around C, who was single, who could manage his property, and C's health condition deteriorated due to symptoms of dementia.

The appellate court ruled, "The accused is highly likely to be blamed for committing the crime in this case over a long period of time against that trust even though he knows that Mr. C is in a situation where he has no choice but to rely on him completely.

He continued, "Considering that the accused has not denied the crime and has not shown any remorse until now due to unacceptable allegations, the damage has not been repaired and the family of C wants punishment, the sentence of the lower court is too light and unreasonable." I explained the reasons for the sentencing.
