In the SNS group chat room of the students, gossiping and swearing at a friend who was not in the room was also found to be school violence.

Even if the victim wasn't in the chat room, I found out about it later, and if there was any damage, it was considered violence.

For more details, reporter Park Chan-beom will tell you.

<Reporter> This

is an SNS group chat room with 10 out of 23 students in the same class.

In April of last year, some students started slandering one student.

A few days later, they gossip about another student.

The two students who were subjected to profanity and slander were not in this chat room, but the truth of the gossip was discovered as rumors about the reality of the 'gossip room' spread throughout the class.

The Incheon Eastern Office of Education has issued a written apology to the students who led the gossip, and dispositions such as volunteering at the school.

However, one of the perpetrators filed an administrative lawsuit to cancel the disposition, saying that the act was harsh and the victim was not even in the chat room.

In response, the court ruled that even if the victims did not immediately recognize the gossip of the students, if they found out later and suffered mental damage, it was school violence.

The fact that the victims suffered from depressive disorders and adjustment disorders as a result of this incident was reflected.

At the same time, the student's claim was dismissed, saying that the disposition of the Office of Education cannot be considered excessive.

[Cheon Chan-hee / Lawyer: It is not a criminal punishment, but now whether it is school violence or not, so the scope of the law is now very wide.

The court found that the conduct in the group chat room had an effect on the victim in some way.] The

court ruled that it was not school violence in the past, saying that gossiping about students who were not in the group chat room in the past could not be said to have resulted in direct damage. .

This ruling has broadened the scope of recognition of school violence, and it is expected that gossip or bullying by students online will be recognized as school violence more in the future.
