Prosecutors have appealed against the sentence of fines to Yoo Si-min, former chairman of the Roh Moo-hyun Foundation, on charges of defaming Justice Minister Han Dong-hoon.

The Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office announced that it had submitted an appeal yesterday (14th) saying that there was a misunderstanding of the facts and a misunderstanding of the law regarding the results of the first trial.

On the 9th, the Seoul Western District Court sentenced former Chairman Yoo Si-min to a fine of 5 million won on charges of defamation by radio.

At the first trial, the court ruled that former chairman Yoo's past remarks "can severely distort the process of forming public opinion, and the victim seems to have suffered considerable mental pain as he was perceived as a prosecutor who abused his investigative authority, and he wants punishment."

Former Chairman Yoo honored Minister Han Dong-hoon for remarking in 2019 on the YouTube channel 'Alileo', "The prosecution confirmed that they looked into the Roh Moo-hyung Foundation's bank account, and I guess they have looked into all of my personal accounts." I've been accused of damaging it.

Former Chairman Yoo also announced that he would appeal against the sentence of a fine in the first instance.
