Seoul Southern District Prosecutor's Office's Joint Financial and Securities Crime Investigation Team recently conducted a search and seizure at the 4th Bureau of Investigation of the Seoul Regional Tax Office.

Through a search and seizure, the prosecution secured data from a special tax investigation conducted by the National Tax Service against Terraform Labs CEO Kwon Do-hyung.

Earlier, since June last year, the National Tax Service discovered a suspicious flow of money from an overseas corporation created by CEO Kwon and started a tax investigation.

Afterwards, the National Tax Service confirmed that CEO Kwon had stolen the profits from his coin trading from his Singapore corporation to the Virgin Islands, a place of tax avoidance, and imposed taxes of about 50 billion won, including his income tax and corporate tax.

However, the National Tax Service did not file a complaint with the prosecution, and the fact of the special tax investigation was announced late through media reports.

While analyzing the seizure and search data, the prosecution is actively verifying CEO Kwon's 'tax evasion allegations' and the flow of funds from Terraform Labs.

At the time, the National Tax Service investigation revealed that CEO Kwon donated coins to his family to purchase an apartment, and as a result, we plan to investigate this part again.

It was also confirmed that the Supreme Prosecutor's Office recently dispatched an investigator with expertise in virtual currency to the consortium.

It seems to be a reinforcement of manpower to track the transaction details of the cryptocurrency wallets that CEO Kwon and Terraform Labs are presumed to have.
