American actor Kevin Spacey, charged with four sexual assaults on men in the United Kingdom, will appear in a London court on Thursday, British police announced on Monday.

These accusations against the star of the series "House of Cards" relate to facts dating back to March 2005.

Kevin Spacey will have to explain himself.

The American actor, prosecuted on four counts of sexual assault on men, will appear in British justice on Thursday.

The facts would have occurred between March 2005 and April 2013. The actor is also accused of having pushed a person to participate in a sexual activity with penetration without his consent.

Kevin Spacey then said he was "disappointed" but announced his intention to appear in British justice to "prove his innocence".

London police said the complainants, whose names have not been made public, are now in their 30s and 40s. 

Accusations with serious consequences on his acting life

Scotland Yard has opened an investigation after receiving complaints of sexual assaults against the actor, some of which were allegedly committed in the Lambeth district of London, where the Old Vic theater is located, of which he was artistic director between 2004 and 2015 These accusations were made in the wake of the Weinstein scandal, named after the American film producer targeted by numerous accusations of harassment and sexual assault, revealed in the fall of 2017 by the New York Times and the New Yorker.

The actor has also been the subject of investigations in the United States.

The wave of accusations against him has had serious consequences on the career and reputation of the two-time Oscar winner (for "American Beauty" and "Usual Suspects").

In particular, he had to withdraw from the cast of the final season of "House of Cards".
