Face-to-face classes have been expanded along with the recovery of daily life, but students' academic anxiety remains.

[Kim Mo-gun / 2nd year high school student: (In the meantime) I can’t keep up with the class I took non-face-to-face…

It was especially difficult to keep up with Korean and math.]

[My mother-in-law, sophomore in high school: (for two years) I couldn’t solve a lot of problems and I didn’t study much, so I think I’m taking special lectures at that time to make up for it, At the hagwon.]

Last year, about 22,000 middle and high school students were evaluated for their academic ability in Korean, math, and English.

It was classified into four levels, from excellent academic ability to low basic academic ability.

Compared to the previous year, the ratio of above average academic level fluctuated slightly for each subject, but was similar.

However, compared to 2019, before the corona virus, Korea, English, and water all fell sharply.

In particular, the number of high school second languages decreased by 13.2 percentage points, the lowest since 2017.

The rate of underachievement in basic education also rose slightly in all subjects in the second year of high school, but compared to before Corona, it has risen significantly.

High school math was the highest ever at 14.2%, which means that the number of students giving up on math in the classroom has increased.

Although the number of face-to-face classes increased significantly last year, his academic background is not recovering from pre-COVID-19.

The Ministry of Education is planning to implement a computer-based evaluation of academic achievement in all schools that wish to evaluate it starting in September after the decline in academic ability is confirmed.

This year, 6th graders will be added, and in 2024, the evaluation target will be expanded from elementary 3 to high school 2.

In addition, in order to improve basic academic ability, we decided to expand the school operating cooperative classes with two teachers in Korean and math classes.
