A total of 62 children participated in the claimant group.

A 20-week-old fetus whose nickname is 'Woodpecker' was listed as the representative claimant, and 61 children under the age of 10 who were born after 2012 also participated.

The reason for the unconstitutional lawsuit is that the government's goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 40% in 2018 by 2030 is lower than international standards.

In order to meet the Paris Agreement on Climate Change, it is necessary to reduce emissions by at least 55% of 2018 by 2030, otherwise it will lead to an irreversible climate crisis, which will infringe on the right of future generations to pursue happiness and lead a dignified life. The claimant argued.

"Germany's Federal Constitutional Court also ruled that it was inconsistent with the Constitution on the grounds that it restricts the right to health and freedom of future generations due to insufficient provisions for reducing greenhouse gas emissions," said Minbyun, who represents the lawsuit. said.
