The strike at Busan Port on the 11th, the fifth day of the general strike of the Cargo Solidarity, caused disruptions in container transport and fewer and fewer places to store cargo in the yard.

According to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, etc. on the 11th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the 10th, the amount of containers carried in and out of Busan Port was 7,268 TEU (1 TEU is one 20-foot container).

This is equivalent to 33.6% of the 21,604 TEU container transport volume during the same period last month.

The storage rate, which indicates how much container cargo is piled up in the port yard, was 77.3%, up 7.3 percentage points from the average last month.

The Busan Branch of the Cargo Solidarity held a war of propaganda on the same day, urging for the enactment of a safe freight rate system in Busan's new and northern ports.

The police have placed manpower at key branches to block illegal activities such as obstruction of transport, and have focused on protecting vehicles in operation and preventing physical mobilization.
