There was a case in which an 80-year-old with severe dementia went missing in the mountains.

It was not easy to find because it was a sparsely populated place, but a rescue dog who went to search rescued the elderly man 23 hours after his disappearance.

On the 3rd, in front of a mountain in Seongnam, Gyeonggi-do.

A firefighter and a German Shepherd are welcomed by nearby residents.

[Oh, you are pretty!]

[Thank you!]

This is the way back after finding an elderly person with severe dementia who disappeared in the wild and guiding them to an ambulance.

The main character of this search operation is 'Jin-Jin'.

It is an elite rescue dog that was also deployed at the Gwangju apartment collapse site and the Yangju quarry collapse site.

It was around 5 pm on the 2nd of the last day that a report of a missing family member asking for a father in his 80s with dementia was received.

[Lee Eun-hwa/Reporter: On the way to the nursing home, the person who takes care of it for a while seems to have gone out in the blink of an eye.

It must be very difficult beyond today, I think that I might lose my father in this way (I also think.)] The

search continued all night until the morning of the next day, but there was no result.

[Kim Ki-sang / Gyeonggi-do Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters 119 Rescue Dog Handler: The search range was wide and it was a sparsely populated mountain, so it was impossible to collect information from people around (this was the situation.)]

It was the rescue dog 'Jinjin' that made a breakthrough in the daunting search operation.

[Kim Ki-sang / Gyeonggi-do Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters 119 Rescue Dog Handler: Each person has their own unique body odor.

When the rescue dog smells it, it runs to the rescuer and barks there to notify the handler to find the rescuer (this is the way)]

Reported The next afternoon, Jin-jin, who was sent in, narrowed the search range with her excellent sense of smell, and was 300 m from the hiking trail in 1 hour and 10 minutes. We found an old man exhausted under a fallen tree.

It has only been '23 hours' since he disappeared.

[Lee Eun-hwa / Reporter: It's a puppy.

Even though he can't talk, he's so, so, so, so, so, so pretty...

I am so very grateful and feeling grateful (I have)]
