The police, who are investigating Rep. Jae-myung Lee, who was elected in the parliamentary by-election in Gyeyang, Incheon on the 1st, announced that they would investigate the controversy over the 'privilege of non-arrest' "without political consideration."

At a press conference held today (7th), Kim Gwang-sik, head of the Gyeonggi Nambu Police Agency's investigation department, said, "(The privilege of non-arrest) is a political matter. Considering this, it is like not being able to investigate."

He also added that the investigation into various allegations related to lawmaker Lee was "progressed without any setbacks."

At the same time, he explained that in the case of 'Seongnam FC Sponsorship Suspicion', he is trying to match the recently seized and searched data with the existing data, and he will make sure that the conclusion that the police have made once before is not changed by the prosecution through a sufficient investigation.

Regarding the so-called 'corporate card suspicion' of Lee's wife, Kim Hye-kyung, he said that he was adjusting the schedule related to the summons of the whistleblower, who is a public interest reporter.

On the other hand, in connection with his son Lee Dong-ho's 'suspicion of illegal gambling and prostitution,' some accounts of officials related to the January case were seized and searched. Regarding the allegation that it was used as an election office, it was reported that the apartment management office was seized and searched at the end of April, and CCTV was secured and an investigation is underway.
