As the wildfire in Bubuk-myeon, Miryang, Gyeongsangnam-do, which has continued for the second day, spreads, the firefighting work is slowing down.

From the morning of the 1st, the forest authorities are responding to the fire by mobilizing 57 helicopters and 1,796 firefighters.

The wildfire is spreading to 500m of a power transmission tower and 1.2km from Oksan-ri, and the fire retardant is being dropped by helicopter, but it is having difficulties in extinguishing it because of its rapid spread and rapid wind direction change.

Accordingly, we plan to reorganize our strategies for preventing safety accidents and for efficient evolution.

Forest authorities used thermal imaging drones after sunset yesterday to determine the direction of the wildfire and the location of ground personnel input.

Then, an aerial firefighting team and a special firefighting team were mobilized to build a fire line and worked to extinguish the fire overnight, but it was difficult to put out the fire due to the harsh and dry weather.

Currently, the extinguishing rate is 58%, and the area affected by the forest fire is estimated to be 392 hectares.

There were no casualties with 351 people evacuated for safety.

Fire lines have been built to protect private houses, and firefighting crews have been divided into eight areas in mountainous areas and are undergoing firefighting.

In addition, various volunteer groups such as the Korean Red Cross, Miryang Youth Chamber, Miryang Agricultural Cooperative Federation, Miryang City Volunteer Group Association, and Miryang City Health Center are providing meals and providing relief supplies for the firefighters.

The forest fire broke out at around 9:25 am yesterday at San 13-31, Chunhwa-ri, Bubuk-myeon, Miryang-si, and spread along the ridge with strong winds.

The Korea Forest Service issued the '3rd stage of forest fires' and the Fire Department issued the National Fire Protection Mobilization Ordinance No.
