Regarding the large forest fire that occurred in Bubuk-myeon, Miryang-si, Gyeongsangnam-do yesterday (31st), the forestry authorities said that they would do their best to complete the extinguishing of the main fire within today.



Director Nam Nam-hyeon of the Korea Forest Service held a briefing today at the Miryang-si forest fire site command headquarters and explained that as of 9 am, the extinguishing rate was 48%.



It was estimated that the area affected by the forest fire was 301 hectares, and the remaining fire band, that is, the fire line, was 4.8 km.



The forest authorities mobilized 41 helicopters at the same time as sunrise at around 5 am today to start an aerial firefighting, and 1,700 people are putting out fires on the ground as well.



Commissioner Nam added, "There is no sidewalk where the fire broke out and the mountain is steep, so it is very difficult to put in firefighting equipment and manpower.
