Every time an election is held, a lot of money is spent.

This is especially true in the case of local elections, which are approaching tomorrow (the 1st).

The reason was analyzed by the SBS Fact Check 'Actually' team and the Data Journalism 'Wait' team.

When candidates are registered before the election, they receive election subsidies mainly from political parties that have produced members of the National Assembly.

It is given about a week before Election Day.

Based on the total amount, 45.8 billion won was paid in the last local election, 45.2 billion won in the general election two years ago, and 46.5 billion won in the March presidential election.

This is not the end.

We make campaign posters and banners, rent cars for speeches, make logo songs, pay campaigners, and even pay back these expenses spent by candidates during the election.

Election subsidy.

Candidates who get more than 15% of the total votes receive all, and those who get 10-15% of the votes receive half.

The subsidy given before the election and the subsidy given after the election are added together.

369.1 billion won in the branch election, 134.9 billion won in the general election, and 149.8 billion won in the presidential election.

Local elections are overwhelming.

It was calculated as 2.7 times the presidential election.

When I asked the National Election Commission, it was said that this is because local elections have thousands of candidates, and so many people receive subsidies.

In the last local election, 5,600 people, or 61% of all candidates, received a full refund of the election expenses.

What you see now are the candidates running for this election.

A total of 7,531 people.

There is some controversy that the support for election expenses is excessive, but in a broad sense, it is an investment for democracy, especially in the case of local elections, it is an investment for grassroots democracy.

There are less than 10 hours left until the start of the election.

Why don't you check the candidates one more time and carefully select who is the right fit for our neighborhood worker?
