Today (28th) around 12:06 noon, a wildfire of unknown cause that started in a mountain in Haenggok-ri, Geunnam-myeon, Uljin-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do has been going on for more than 5 hours.



The fire spread to Eupnam-ri, Uljin-eup, and Susan-ri, Geunnam-myeon, and evacuation orders were issued for about 300 residents of the two areas.



The fire and forestry authorities have reported no casualties so far, and it is understood that 40 ha of forest, one temple building and one store were damaged.



25 helicopters and 250 firefighters were put in to extinguish the wildfire and defend private houses, but at the site, strong winds of over 20 m/s are blowing at the site, making it difficult to extinguish the fire.



As of 4:30 pm on the same day, the Korea Forest Service has issued the second stage of the forest fire at the site and has mobilized 100% of the firefighting manpower available for mobilization in Uljin and surrounding areas.



The Korea Forest Service and the police plan to investigate the exact area of ​​damage and the cause of the fire once the firefighting work is complete.
