Earlier, on December 30, last year, at a restaurant in Gimpo-si, Gyeonggi-do, the perpetrator B, who was suffering from schizophrenia, approached the family of A while eating, and knocked down the baby chair on which A's daughter (1), who had just turned around, was sitting, and fell into a concussion. I did.

Angry at this, the father chased after Mr. B and hit him in the back twice, and the assailant's parents sued him for assault.

The parents of the perpetrator B said that their son was schizophrenic and asked for forgiveness, but the victim's father's assault made his son's condition worse, so they reported it to the police.

The victim's father appealed to the police for self-defence, but after the incident, he received a reply that self-defense did not take place because he assaulted the assailant.

When the incident became known, many people were outraged, and Mr. A, the mother of the victim girl, shared the situation and current situation at the time of the assault through an online community on the 25th.

Person A said, "(At the time of the incident) I purposely set the table to the very corner of the restaurant. I tried to put the baby chair on the wall, but the chair did not fit because of the pillar, so I sat the child outside." I couldn't and it happened so quickly that I couldn't stop it. Even my oldest 5-year-old child witnessed the scene and was terrified."

He continued, "Even if the child can't sleep at night and just sneeze (don't ask the assault), I'm still worried and anxious about the aftermath," he said. .

He continued, "The father of the child, who had never even been to the police station in his life, was investigated by the police for this incident. However, the mother of the assailant has a completely different attitude from the first time, and just as her son's symptoms got worse because of the father of the child, they dropped the accusation and withdrew each other's medical expenses. They also revealed their true colors, saying that we should each bear the burden.”

Mr. A said that he contacted several lawyers' offices, but received an answer that it is not easy to punish schizophrenia patients under the current Korean law.

Finally, Mr. A said, "(The perpetrator B, who suffers from schizophrenia) will walk the streets and go to restaurants and cafes. Also, some children and the weak may suffer like our children. "We should not treat all schizophrenic patients as potential criminals, but we need proper punishment and management for mentally ill people who commit crimes," he said.
