While the Yun Seok-yeol government decided to abolish the Office of Civil Politics and leave the public official personnel verification function to the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Justice has released a plan to operate a public officials personnel verification organization.
The Ministry of Justice announced today (24th) that it is in the process of advancing the legislative notice on the revision of the 'Ministry of Justice and its affiliated organizations enforcement regulations', which includes conducting the verification of related personnel, such as candidates for public office.
According to the announcement in the Official Gazette, a new head of the Personnel Information Management Team will be created to oversee personnel verification work, and the organization will consist of about 20 people directly under the Minister of Justice, including prosecutors.
The Ministry of Justice added that revisions of related regulations under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Personnel Management and the Ministry of Public Administration and Security are also in progress.
