An incumbent marine police officer suspected of drunk driving was arrested after crashing into a taxi and running away, and refusing to comply with a request for a breathalyzer test.



The Gyeonggi Pyeongtaek Police Station announced today (17th) that they had arrested a current offender, Inspector A (60) belonging to the Pyeongtaek Maritime Police Station, on charges of violating the Road Traffic Act (refusing to measure alcohol).



Inspector A was charged with refusing to ask for a breathalyzer test from the police who received a report and was dispatched after colliding with the passenger seat of a taxi driving on the first lane on a road in Paengseong-eup, Pyeongtaek-si, last night at 11:45 pm last night, and fled about 2km without action. are receiving



After the accident, the taxi driver was found to have pursued the vehicle of Inspector A, stopped it, and reported it to the police.



There were no casualties due to the accident.



A police official said, "The alcohol detector tested positive, so I requested a measurement, but Inspector A refused and arrested him on related charges," said a police officer.



Meanwhile, the Pyeongtaek Coast Guard announced this morning that it will remove the position and issue personnel appointments for Inspector A, and will proceed with disciplinary procedures in accordance with related regulations.
