The police have investigated the PD in the case of 'impersonation of prosecutor Lee Jae-myung', which accused Lee Jae-myung, a standing adviser of the Democratic Party, on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act and defamation.

The anti-corruption and public crime investigation team of the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency announced yesterday (15th) that they are investigating the case in which KBS PD Choi Cheol-ho accused him of torture in March last year.

In 2002, Lee was convicted of conspiring with PD Choi and impersonating a prosecutor by talking on the phone with then Seongnam Mayor Kim Byung-ryang, and was sentenced to a fine of 1.5 million won by the Supreme Court.

In the course of the last presidential election campaign, Lee wrote in the official election bulletin, "I asked for the name of the prosecutor and important details, but it was decided that he helped impersonate the prosecutor," revealing that PD Choi was leading the impersonation.

In March, PD Choi filed a complaint with the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on charges of violating the Public Official Election Act and defamation, and the prosecution transferred the case to the Seoul Office's Anti-Corruption and Public Crime Investigation Unit.

A police official said, "We will conduct a legal review to determine whether (Lee's torture) is suspected."
