A shaman who stole close to 100 million won in money by cheating that he had to do shamanism to save his children was sentenced to prison.

According to the court today (4th), Detective 1 of the Seoul Northern District Court (Judge Shin Sang-ryeol) sentenced A (61), a shaman, who was recently handed over to trial for fraud, sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison.

However, in order to guarantee A's right to defend, legal arrest was not made.

A shaman, who runs a courthouse in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, is accused of receiving money and valuables worth 96.1 million won from his customer B from September 2016 to November 2018.

Mr. A deceived Mr. B that his family was being harmed, and then extorted money and valuables by performing shamanic acts such as rites 11 times.

Mr. A said to Mr. B, "My son will hurt his spine," and said, "If I don't want to be like that, I have to wear pure gold jewelry." I will do this, and I will prevent this.”

In this way, Mr. A received tens of millions of won from Mr. B to pray for his son's admission to Seoul National University, to solve his son's disciplinary lawsuit, and to solve the rental problem.

In the course of the trial, Mr. A, who was eventually brought to court, denied the allegations, saying, "Mr. B asked me to pray and performed a legitimate shamanic act and received money, but he did not extort money."

However, the court did not accept A's claim.

It was determined that Mr. A did not have the power to determine whether or not he was bad or bad with a rite or prayer.

The court explained, "We can admit that he defrauded B and defrauded him of 96.1 million won." "A's conduct falls within the socially acceptable range of shamanism and cannot be regarded as receiving money in return." I did.

He also explained the reason for the sentencing, saying, "Not only is the quality of the crime very poor, but since he has not been forgiven by Mr. B, severe punishment is appropriate."
