A in her 50s, who worked as a nurse at a university hospital for 17 years and then cut off her career for 12 years due to moving abroad and raising children.

Having raised all the children and wanting to work again, Mr. A applied as a public health nurse hired by the ward office last February as a public health center with a part-time system.

The government created a system for women whose careers were cut off due to childbirth and childcare in 2013, so I thought that a second life would be possible with my career and a nurse's license.

[Mr. A / Woman with career interruption: When I worked as a nurse, I felt a sense of accomplishment and reward.

As far as my job, I can help someone (I think there is)]

However, Mr. A, who passed the document screening and went to the final interview, was rejected.

Mr. A is not eligible to apply as the local civil servant appointment ordinance stipulates that 10 years must not have elapsed after retirement for a part-time, fixed-term public official.

[Mr. A/Career interrupted woman: I want to work and I think that I can do it again.

The door to re-employment is very high (I felt)]

As of last year, the total number of women who had lost their careers was 1448,000.

Of these, 40.1% were women who had lost more than 10 years of work experience.

They didn't even make you eligible to apply.

An official from the Ministry of Public Administration and Security explained, "There is no specific basis for calculating the 10-year standard."

It is criticized that it does not reflect the reality of childcare, and that it does not fit the purpose of the system to help women who have lost their careers get re-employment.

[Park Min-ah / Co-CEO of Politician Mothers: (Raising children) A year goes by, and in the end, 10 years pass and this seems to be the case.

I think it is very discriminatory to put a 10-year limit like this.]

As the career interruption period specified in the application qualifications is a real obstacle, it needs improvement.
