The Korean Bar Association (Bar Association) expressed strong concerns about the so-called complete deprivation of the prosecution's investigative powers, which was decided at the cabinet meeting yesterday.

In a comment on the 4th, the Bar Association said, "The revised Criminal Procedure Act limits even the right to object to accusations in the public interest. It will be an era in which corruption and injustice are covered up.”

The Bar Association also said, "Victims of crime can only file an objection to the police's unlawful and unfair final disposition, and the prosecutor can only request a supplementary investigation without compulsion." pointed out.

Regarding the amendment to the Prosecutor's Office Act, the Bar Association said, "I do not see any regulations to supplement the investigative capacity for crimes against the public welfare."

He also said, "The restrictions on prosecution investigations into civil servant crimes and election crimes are likely to be a shield for corrupt public officials and powerful politicians."

The Bar Association said, "The legislation was hastily enacted without any alternatives to fill the investigation gap."
