A man in his 50s who had been robbing only religious facilities was caught by a detective on his way home from work.

At the same time, he was caught by a detective who was investigating this man's theft.

Jeju Seogwipo Police Station announced today (3rd) that they arrested a man in his 50s on charges of habitually stealing money (violation of the Act on Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes, etc.) by visiting only religious facilities.

Person A is accused of stealing 3 million won in cash and rice from religious facilities located throughout Jeju, including cathedrals, churches, and temples from February to April.

As a result of the police investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A broke the door of a religious facility using the tools prepared in advance for the crime and then broke in.

Detective Oh Gwang-wook, who belongs to the Seogwipo Police Station, played a strong role in the arrest of Mr. A.

Detective Oh found a man with a familiar face walking from the other side of the road on the way home from work on the morning of the 30th of last month.

This man was thief A, whom Detective Oh was pursuing.

Detective Oh, who remembered Mr. A's face through the CCTV video, turned the car right away, but Mr. A disappeared in the meantime.

Detective Oh immediately requested support from the Seogwipo Detective Team, and with an arrest warrant in advance, the Seogwipo Detective Team came to the scene and arrested Mr. A, who was sleeping in a nearby church.

As a result of the police investigation, it was confirmed that Mr. A was already arrested for robbing religious facilities across the country, but was released last year.

The stolen money was found to be used for living expenses.

The police are investigating, believing that A entered the church to search for the crime location on the day of the arrest.
