A man who visited a woman's house and wielded a weapon on the ground that 'not dating him' was sentenced to a heavier sentence than the original trial at the appeals court.

Today (2nd), Suwon High Court Criminal Division 1 (Chief Judge Shin Sook-hee) overturned the original sentence of Mr. A, who was sentenced to 15 years in prison for attempted murder, and sentenced him to 18 years in prison.

Person A committed the crime on April 18 last year at around 6 pm in Danwon-gu, Ansan-si, Gyeonggi-do, in front of the residence of victim B, using a weapon prepared in advance.

B, who was seriously injured, was transported to the hospital after a friend's report, but it is known that he suffered serious physical and mental damage, such as being diagnosed with a disability.

Earlier, in January of last year, Mr. A boarded a taxi operated by Mr. B as a passenger and felt a one-sided crush on Mr. B. Then, he got a job at the company where Mr. B is.

He requested a meeting with B for about three months, but was refused and threatened B, saying, "I used to threaten my girlfriend with a knife," and "I will kill you too."

As a result of the investigation, it was revealed that Mr. A had requested a relationship with Mr. B even two days before the crime, but was rejected and committed the crime.

Accordingly, the first trial court sentenced A, who was brought to court in October of last year, to 15 years in prison, saying, "The crime method of following the desperately fleeing victim and wielding a weapon is very cruel."

The appellate court also ruled that "it was a planned crime committed in front of the victim's residence with a pre-prepared weapon, and the quality of the crime was very poor."

He continued, "Considering the risk of recidivism as judged by the original court, it seems that long-term isolation from society is necessary."
