The government is moving toward lifting the mandatory outdoor mask from next week.

The government is known to have gathered opinions that it is possible to lift the mandatory outdoor mask, which is very unlikely to spread the infection, as the number of confirmed cases continues to decrease even after social distancing such as restrictions on the number of people at private gatherings and business hours is lifted, and the severity and death rate are stable. .

Previously, Ahn Cheol-soo, chairman of the Presidential Transition Committee, said yesterday (27th) that he would review the declaration of 'outdoor mask free' within 30 days of the inauguration of the new government, and that the timing of the declaration to be lifted "will be judged by looking at the situation around the end of May."

Because of this, there are also observations that the government, which was going to announce whether the mandatory outdoor mask will be lifted tomorrow (29th), can accept the opinion of the transition committee and pass the decision to the next government.

However, it is reported that the government has come to the conclusion that there is no reason or justification not to take off the mask.

In this regard, the transition committee today (28th) said, "The comprehensive quarantine measures announced yesterday are recommendations, so it is difficult to influence the implementation of the current government's policies." I've been emphasizing it over and over again," he criticized.

In addition, the transition committee added, "There was no prior communication with the transition committee regarding the current government's decision to remove outdoor masks."

If the duty to wear an outdoor mask is lifted following the complete lifting of social distancing, most of the restrictions imposed by Corona 19, except for the duty to wear an indoor mask, will disappear, bringing us closer to our daily recovery.

The final government decision regarding the removal of outdoor masks will be unveiled at the meeting of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters tomorrow morning.
