In July of last year, the fire broke out at a factory that supplies bungeoppang equipment and dough to street vendors in Daejeon. .

The 47-year-old factory owner, Mr. A, claimed about 160 million won in insurance the next day after the fire.

A candle that hadn't been lit was placed on top of a plastic barrel of kerosene with chopsticks stuck to it.

[Non-life insurance company official: Unburned candles were found at the scene, raising suspicions that it might be a spontaneous ignition device made for alibi manipulation.]

Insurers and police have been testing that the device can start a fire by delaying the time. I checked the facts, and it was none other than the company representative Mr. A who installed this ignition device.

Previously, Mr. A had received about 400 million won in insurance money from three fires that occurred in his other Bungeoppang factory.

Mr. A denied all charges against him, but the first trial judge sentenced Mr. A to 3 years in prison, saying that several evidences were clear.
